First Day of Medical Training This Year

After one week of intensive Bible training and a second week with CHE training, the Barefoot Doctors are primed for the final five weeks of their medical training before graduation on February 28th.

Here is a report from Dr. Bruce Gross following their sessions on Monday, January 27th.

It was so good to be back in the classroom with the Barefoot Doctor students today, the first day of their last year. Everyone was excited to learn. It was very apparent to me that they had been using their knowledge and skills gained last year during the “off season”. They were not at all rusty, but immediately interacted with the instructors with well thought out answers and great questions. They weren’t perfect, mind you, but they were eager to learn from their mistakes.

Testimony from Nen Bay
They each shared with us some highlights of their time away. Some had great life events happen - like having a new baby born into their family. Others experienced the death of a loved one. Many told us of a memorable experience with treating a patient. This was followed by a student presentation of one of the drugs that they will be using, the indications, side effects, and appropriate dosages. Then we had three students present cases that they experienced including the problem, the diagnosis, and their treatment of the patient. We all gave ideas and thoughts about what we did right and what we could have done better.

At the end of the day, we all left mentally exhausted in a good way.  I can hardly wait for tomorrow.
