20 New Students Arrive Safely!

All 20 of our new students arrived safely this afternoon about 3:45 p.m.!

They were exhausted from their journey, which in some cases was much more than the six-hour drive from Tachileik. Some of them left home many days ago.

They all spent the night at Timothy's home last evening where they have been slowly assembling over the past 3 days. Timothy remarked how crowded his 2-bedroom house was.  It was basically wall-to-wall people!

What a tremendous joy it was to welcome the students to the KLC campus!  We were smiling big smiles, and you can tell they were smiling, too.  Perhaps they were just happy to get out of the van finally!

Here is the first group picture of the Class of 2020.  There will be hundreds more taken, but it is great to see this one.  These students were carefully chosen by church leaders across Burma to come and participate in this program.

Soon after they arrived at the Kalnin Learning Center we joined in a prayer to thank God for their safety and for the teaching program that lies ahead of them. Then we gave them hot tea and snacks which they consumed quickly.  We also took a few minutes to pass out the supplies they will need as they start their training as Barefoot Doctors.

I'm sure it's a daunting task to learn what they are being asked to learn over the next six weeks, especially if you have never left the remote areas where many of their villages are.  Many of them are nervous about getting started.  Please pray for them all.
