We are excited to see a new group of students begin their classes on January 15, 2018!
They will be arriving at the Kalnin Learning Center campus on Saturday the 13th and begin classes the following Monday morning.
The 20 students have been selected from among the finest Christians found in the churches of Myanmar. They are happy their church leaders have chosen them to become Barefoot Doctors for Frontier Labourers for Christ.
Pastors Jon Ulm, Simon Percy, and Dave Barr will be leading a week of Orientation and Bible Training from January 15th to the 19th. We will be laying a solid foundation for the ministry they will later perform in Burma and getting them ready for the intense medical training they are about to receive.
The students come from seven different states/divisions and 10 different language groups in Burma. The 13 men and 7 women reflect the great diversity of that country. Most of them live in villages with inadequate medical care. Upon their return in March they will begin meeting some of the medical needs of the people in their area. Then they will return for more training in January of 2019 and January of 2020. In March of 2020 they will receive their certificates as Barefoot Doctors, God willing.
The idea and theme for this ministry is taken directly from Luke 9:6 where Jesus' disciples were sent out "from village to village preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere." This ministry is growing year after year as we have now graduated over 10 classes of students and have more than 100 Barefoot Doctors on the field. FLC now has many Barefoot Doctors scattered around in villages in the most remote parts of Burma and also in some of the towns and cities.
The Lord is using this ministry in a mighty way to serve others in love and to help His Kingdom grow. It is truly a preaching and healing ministry which the Lord leads and resources day by day.
Thank you for reading this blog and for your support through your prayers and financial gifts. The sidebar shows you how to make a donation if you are so inclined.
Please pray for our teachers as they prepare to come to Thailand so they can instruct and encourage our students over the next 7 weeks. These doctors and nurses come free of charge. Many are returning to teach for their 3rd or 4th time. We are so grateful for their help!
Jon Ulm, Pastoral Care Director
