Bible Sessions Continuing ...

Simon and Rich are continuing to teach the Bible every day this week, all day and every evening, too.

Last night Rich led the evening session.   He spoke about how David's success in defeating Goliath and winning other military victories for Israel led to King Saul's jealousy and opposition.  Rich explained that even success can bring trials in this life.

He also shared how David's friendship with Jonathan was something that gave him support and encouragement during this critical time in his life.  We are all encouraged to develop strong friendships like the one they had as we go through life together.

During the daytimes, Simon has been teaching about Joseph from the book of Genesis and how we can see Jesus in his story.

Here is another picture of our students and instructors.

Thanks for your prayers!

Bible Sessions with Simon and Rich

I just got a report from Simon Percy, and the Bible teaching is going very well.

He and Rich Petersen have now finished two days with the students, and everyone is pleased with what they are learning.

Rich has been teaching about our Spiritual Disciplines, including prayer and fasting.

Simon has been teaching how to teach and preach from the Old Narratives (Old Testament).  He and the students are focusing on the story of Joseph (Jacob's son).

This week they will also be doing a Bible overview on seeing Jesus in all of the scriptures.

I have had several messages from students telling me they are really getting a lot from these sessions, and they are greatly encouraged.

All of them cherish this time at the Kalnin Learning Center.

Please tell your friends the Barefoot Doctors Blog is up and running again!  Thanks.

Students are BACK!!!

We are very excited to have our students back at the Kalnin Learning Center!

They arrived on Saturday, January 11th, happy to continue their preparation as Barefoot Doctors.
They got settled back into their rooms in the Jones building then had time together for prayer.

On Sunday morning they gathered with their Bible teachers and the FLC staff for a worship time in the Ferraro building.  Their pictures are extra colorful because everyone wore their tribal dress/costumes for the service.  Enjoy the photos!

All of this week they will be in Bible classes taught by Simon Percy and Rich Petersen.  We are so grateful for these pastors who came to share the Word of God with our students.  We will tell you more about these classes as the week progresses.

Please be in urgent prayer for one of our students who has not yet returned to the school.  Maung Kyawt Thar actually disappeared in Burma about one month ago while he was doing medical work and sharing the gospel.  His family has not heard from him for 5 weeks now, and there is concern that he was abducted by a rebel army fighting in the area where he was working.

Thanks for your prayers, both for Kyawt Thar and for the rest of our students and instructors.

Everything at the school is leading up to graduation on February 28th. If you wish to help with the funding of the school and/or medical supplies to send home with the graduates in March, please see the donation link on the sidebar.

Barefoot Doctor Invited to Teach at a Medical Conference in Myanmar

Jung Dangshing, Executive Director of Frontier Labourers for Christ, shared the following news this week:

This year FLC was given an opportunity for a Barefoot Doctor to participate at a conference at Hiangzing Church, near Kalay City, Myanmar, put on by the Siyin Baptist Association by teaching a couple of health lessons. Here is a photo of the conference presenters.

The conference was held March 11th-15th, 2019. Mai Lal Em Par, one of our Barefoot Doctors, volunteered as the CHE facilitator sponsored by David Crist, our long time friend and CHE facilitator at the Barefoot Doctors School.

This was the first time that the school received such a request and we are very blessed and proud to send Em Par as a representative for the Barefoot Doctors School.

This final picture shows EmPar meeting with patients.

Thank you for your prayers for the Barefoot Doctors.

Barefoot Doctors Arrive in Tachileik

This is to let you know that the barefoot doctors arrived safely in Tachileik with all their medical supplies.
The students from the Rachine and Kachin States fly out from Tachileik today March 5th to their next destinations and the rest tomorrow.

They have been away from home for more than 7 weeks now, and they are so eager to get home to be reunited with their families.

Please keep them in your prayers continually for safe journey, good health, their families, and their work. Thank you again for your support.

Here are some pictures shared from their trip north from Chiang Mai.

Thank you for your prayers.

Barefoot Doctors Head Home!

The trip home has begun.  It's a 5 or 6 hour drive to Mae Sai where the students will cross the border back into Myanmar.  From there, they will go many directions to get back to their families and their various ministries.

Taking a group photo before leaving for Burma.

Please keep them all in your prayers.

Final days of Medical Training

As I write this early Friday morning, the medical training at the Kalnin Learning Center has just concluded.  The students had lunch with Dr. Bjorn, Dr. Bruce, and Dr. Susan and then had to say their goodbyes.

Here are a few more teaching moments on the last two days of training.

Dr. Susan teaching how to splint an ankle (above) and reviewing common palpable pulse sites from upper extremities.  This is important to check after placing a splint on an injured limb.

Pictures of medications the students received.
