Welcome, Dr. Susan McDowell

We are so grateful for the instructors who come year after year to teach our students. Without them the Barefoot Doctor program would not be possible.

All of these instructors come at their own expense, totally.  They pay for their airfare and other travel expenses.  They take time off from their jobs (and often lose income doing so).   They even give money to the mission to cover the costs of their room and board while teaching here!

This is a great sacrifice on their part, but it's a sacrifice they are quite willing to make.  If you talk to the teachers who come time and time again, they will go on and on about how much these students mean to them.  They love getting to know our students because they admire their devotion to the Lord and their desire to serve the people of Burma.  Our teachers relish the opportunity to be with them in order to increase their knowledge and expertise as Barefoot Doctors.

This week we welcome another one of our doctors who comes year after year.

Here is Dr. Bruce welcoming Dr. Susan McDowell to the class. Dr. McDowell is an orthopedic surgeon who works at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.  She has been involved with the Barefoot Doctors program since 2010, ever since she was a student finishing up her medical degree program.

Thanks for coming back, Susan!  The same goes for all of you teachers who come year after year.  We thank God for you!
